Hyundai Construction Equipment Australia is pleased to present the new R35Z-7, a “zero tail-swing” compact excavator in the 3.5 t class. The new mini-excavator will be presented for the first time at Bauma 2007 in Munich.
Due to its extremely compact design, the R35Z-7 provides the ability to cope with spaces too narrow for normal construction machines and still be able to work effectively in the most confined spaces and still provide a surprisingly spacious work environment for the operator.
This excavator weighs exactly 3.65t with its 0.11 m³ standard bucket, and has an engine power of 20.5 kW (29 PS). The Yanmar engine gives the R35Z-7 a maximum bucket digging force of 31.4kN and a traction force of 35.8kN. The off-set boom makes working in the most confined spaces possible, both directly in front of the machine as well as parallel along walls or hedges. At the same time, the excavator achieves an impressive digging depth of 3.15m and a dumping height of 3.46m which means even high-sided trucks can be easily loaded.
The modern three stage hydraulic pump allows three different work movements to be performed independently. The R35Z-7 can slew at up to 9.5 revolutions per minute, and the operator can select two travel speeds for precise or fast moving as required. With grade ability of 30 degrees, high mobility in difficult terrain is also ensured.
Hyundai believes that the R35Z-7, with its high levels of technology, comfort and power, as well as its in-built quality, will ensure a high return on investment to the end user.

He went to work as a field technician in the forestry and construction equipment industry and eventually settled on the New South Wales south coast. Assessing the need and potential of the area, in 1981 Reinhard set up a designated truck and machinery service centre on the south coast and the business is still running strongly after evolving from humble beginnings.
With a “can-do” attitude Reinhard expanded the business to 12 Wycombe St Queanbeyan in 1993. Unwavering in his resolve to mould the firm into a leading business in the truck industry, he applied his high standards across the entire operation. To keep pace with the growth in transport activity and construction in the area, Southern Truck Centre is also expanding its own resources with a new service facility rising at the back of the existing 1.2 hectare site. The new building will allow the dealership to extend the services we already offer, with space to handle 50 percent more equipment at any one time.

According to John Howard, managing director of Toveety, the business has had a long association with Carrington Equipment.“Carrington Equipment are strategically very important to our business,” said Howard, “we’ve been buying product from them for many years. We’ve got a great relationship with the guys and the support we receive is second to none.”
More recently, Howard has been purchasing and operating Hyundai equipment especially in the earthworks side of the business “We’ve been 20 odd years in the earthmoving business, so we know our equipment,” he said, “and about 90% of our earthmoving equipment, particularly the excavator fleet, are Hyundai’s. All round we find the Hyundai’s to be excellent machines, good fuel economy, good reliability and the operators love them,” he said. “Hyundai’s are a competitively priced piece of equipment compared to other brands but we’ve also found they provide excellent resale value, it’s a good all round package.”
ASV Positraks also feature in the Toveety fleet. “The ASV’s
are a great machine, really flexible and we use them in a heap of applications,” said Howard, “compared to conventional skidsteers, in our opinion the ASV’s deliver better performance and value than tyres, steel track or even rubber-coated steel tracks,” he said.
“The package offered by Carrington Equipment suits us,they understand our business. Their range of equipment is world class and it’s backed by a strong commitment to service and support,” said Howard.

It’s almost three years since the HYUNDAI brand re-entered the Australian market, and the strong customer demand for this product has gone from strength to strength as described by our General manager,Graig Doran.
The acceptance of the brand was made possible by the large investment between Hyundai Construction Equipment Australia in a joint venture between Hyundai Heavy Industries,South Korea a US$90 billion company and The Porter Group, a AUS$500 million dollar company and one of the largest construction equipment suppliers throughout the South Pacific Region. The Porter Group has 60 years experience in the industry and an impressive record of marketing Hyundai Construction Equipment having taken the Robex 7 series 10-45 tonne excavator and Dash 7 Wheel Loader ranges to No 1 in New Zealand
Hyundai’s commitment to research and development, manufacturing skills and advanced technology has ensured the development of an extensive line of world class construction equipment that has led to the company’s presence being felt in all corners of the globe.
Hyundai has 412 distributors in 90 countries and dominates key global markets including Asia, and particularly the world’s largest single market for Construction Equipment, China, where it has been the number one supplier of excavators for 3 years running.
According to Craig Doran and Partners, plenty of research was conducted before the Hyundai brand was relaunched on the Australian market. “It is fair to say that there was stigma attached to the brand, to some it stood for old and unreliable technology that hadn’t received the right levels of support” he said “we had to convince the market that our products compare to any on the
market and that we are committed in terms of support and parts back up.
Carrington examined the Australian market and decided there was room for mid range construction equipment so we decided to target various markets with our 10 to 30 tonne Wheel Loaders and our 10 to 50 tonne excavators, this area offered the most
potential with some of the major players struggling to service and support aging populations of equipment. Our strategy has been to focus our offering and provide a support strategy and parts back up that’s second to none.
Hyundai Australia has just finalised a major investment strategy and fitted out a new parts warehouse at its Queensland facility. “We now have10,000 line items in parts in storage, a massive commitment when you consider we are supporting a limited range and population but we want the market to understand that we are here for the long haul. Our systems now provide direct access to both the Hyundai factory and the NZ Distribution Centre, enhancing the speed in which we can order parts and have them delivered,Carrington Equipment is on line with Hyundai so to ensure first class parts availability.
Hyundai launched the DASH 7 Wheel Loader at the end of 2004 and it’s been well received by the Australian Construction and Quarry Industries with customer feed back highlighting performance and reliability as key benefits derived from the new model.
The Dash 7 range features a European style with improved safety and operating features designed to significantly improve the work environment for the operator.
The Robex 7 series of excavators was also launched at the end of 2004,and is packed with features designed to provide increased power, enhanced performance and reliability.
Carrington Equipment in 2006 has been active in expanding its Market position by establishing in key areas of New south Wales local Sub-Dealers for Sales,Service and Parts to further support Hyundai Construction Equipment current and future owners.
